Actually, there’s great variety of content on the vlog. Harfenist also does more serious, thought-provoking work, like this interview with Professor Mustapha Tlili, of New York University, on what’s behind the recent rise in Islamophobia in America and purely informative clips — mini documentaries of a sort — like this one about a recent exhibition at NYC’s Museum of Sex.
I discovered Ms. Harfenist long before I found her vlog, The Resident. That’s because she does occasional spots aired on Russia Today, Russia’s answer to CNN and a network that does 24/7 live feeds via the Internet, thus making televised news accessible to people like me who don’t own TVs. In her reports for RT, Harfenist goes out on the streets of New York City and asks passersby to give their opinions on topics currently in the news. The results are often fascinating.
